| Dublin Castle, Camden Town, London - 22/07/2006 |
"During the halcyon days of Britpop, the Dublin Castle became the ancestral seat to Blur, Travis, Supergrass, Pulp and basically the who’s who of the mid-’90s scene in Britain. Notably, the venue is the number one pilgrimage spot for fans of worldwide ska legends Madness. The venue is the musical home and birthplace to the Camden based band and still finds itself in the news – only last week, Pete and Carl from the Libertines met up for one of the first times since the Libs’ untimely demise. Ten years on from Britpop, the venue is still boasting the best in up and coming guitar talent. Tonight we have three hotly tipped acts for our delectation, with suggestively named London-based Semion up first. There was nothing flaccid about their set as they belted out a set of would-be anthems to an exuberant and packed venue. Unashamedly British in their style and aloof in stage presence, they blasted through their latest album Help Me I Work in an Office in fine fashion. "Available from this box at my feet," singer Gary Ford jokingly quipped as the band touts the album in search of a major deal."
